The captain of the cargo ship "Royal Mamedov", a citizen of Azerbaijan, died during a drone attack on the vessel in the Black Sea. Another citizen of the country is missing, and three are hospitalized.

According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the drone attack on the cargo ship "Royal Mamedov" in the Black Sea, the ship's captain Rustam Gasanov, born in 1974, was killed. Another citizen of the country, Muhammed Suleymanzade, born in 2002, is missing, and searches for him are ongoing.

The other Azerbaijani citizens on board were rescued, three of whom were hospitalized, the agency stated, the message of which was translated by a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".

The Ministry reported that it is coordinating the provision of medical and consular assistance to the victims in cooperation with the diplomatic representations of Azerbaijan and the competent authorities of the relevant countries, as well as organizing the transportation of the deceased's body to Azerbaijan.

The agency urged citizens of the country to refrain from traveling to areas of armed conflict and instability, as well as from working in such areas and on vessels following potentially dangerous routes.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on September 9, two Azerbaijani sailors died, and two others were injured during a drone attack on the cargo ship Tedy.

11 citizens of Azerbaijan were on board the civilian cargo ship Atlas Bey, attacked by a drone off the coast of Odessa on July 14. 10 of them were evacuated, and the body of the captain, a citizen of Azerbaijan, Samed Nasrullayev, was found on July 16.

On the night of June 5, drone attacks were carried out on two foreign cargo ships in the Sea of Azov, which had a total of 25 citizens of Azerbaijan in their crews.
