Residents of Kabardino-Balkaria pointed out to the authorities the unresolved problem with the road to the Chégem waterfalls.
Three sections of the road to the Chégem waterfalls have remained without asphalt for the third year, and due to the potholes and bumps, movement on them is difficult, a local resident complained on social media. Other locals, commenting on his complaint, confirmed the poor condition of the road and criticized officials for the state of the road.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 11, residents of the Chégem district complained about the broken road from Lechinkaya to Lower Chégem, from which the asphalt was removed several years ago. A resident of Lower Chégem, Zhambulat Etteev, reported that he met with the Minister of Transport and Road Management of Kabardino-Balkaria, Aslan Dyshakov, who promised to solve the problem. Etteev's appeal regarding the possible embezzlement of funds allocated for the reconstruction of the road was attached to a criminal case about the negligence of officials in the road management of Kabardino-Balkaria.
One of the locals filmed the condition of the road towards the Chégem waterfalls. The video was published on October 4 by the Instagram*-public chp.nalchik. The footage shows that the filming is done from the cabin of a car that was moving along a road with numerous potholes and bumps, and there is no asphalt covering on the shown section. A bus and a truck are approaching the car, and due to the state of the road, the transport is moving slowly.
"The road towards the Chégem waterfalls: three sections of the road without asphalt for the third year, it's impossible to drive," the video author wrote.

Local residents confirmed the poor condition of the road and pointed out that the problem has persisted for a long time. "Thank you for posting. I hope the administration will finally take action. This is a tourist route, how can nothing be done for so many years? At least they shouldn't have removed the old asphalt if they didn't allocate money for this road in the budget," wrote recept_mariki.
"Three years! It's impossible to breathe from the dust. When the weather is dry, the dust stands for about 100-200 meters, probably. How much longer?" complained user supi60415.
"How can you drive on these roads every day? Why is nothing being done? It's very terrible, where are they looking?" wrote dalazi_.
Other locals criticized the republican authorities and pointed out that appeals and visits from officials did not lead to a solution to the problem. "But Kokov reports hundreds of kilometers, everywhere asphalt," noted marina737086.
"He came, saw, and no one cares about the four villages. All who pass through there, not counting those who go to work – and the minister was there... This is mockery," emphasized tohaevaleila.
"The administration of the republic is inactive," stated marina737086.
As of 06:45 MSK on October 6, there were no comments on the website of the Ministry of Transport of Kabardino-Balkaria regarding the complaints of local residents about the condition of the road to the Chégem waterfalls.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that residents of Kabardino-Balkaria periodically complain about the state of the road infrastructure. For example, on October 5, residents of Nalchik complained about the lack of lighting on Kaliningrad Street and other streets in the city. On October 3, residents of the village of Zalukodes in the Zolsky district demanded that officials repair an emergency bridge that children had to bypass on their way to school and kindergarten.
