Pro-European actions in Tbilisi and Batumi have been ongoing for 677 days.

On the 677th day of continuous protests, the citizens of Georgia opposed the pro-Russian policies of the "Georgian Dream" and torture in prisons.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on October 4, on the 676th day of daily protests, demonstrators in Tbilisi demanded the release of political prisoners and expressed their disagreement with the actions of the ruling party "Georgian Dream".

For the 677th evening in a row, the citizens of Georgia gathered in Tbilisi in front of the parliament and city council buildings, demanding the release of political prisoners, the repeal of repressive laws, a return to the Euro-Atlantic course, and free elections, reports Publika.

Activists in front of the parliament held signs saying "Glory to Freedom", "We are writing history, you are video", "Don't torture", "Zviad Tsetskhladze – political prisoner", "Everyone will regret being a coward", "Even your mop is a better alternative to Bidzina", and "Value teachers", according to photos published by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se) on Facebook*.

Some demonstrators had signs with a well-known slogan expressing rejection of the Russian political course. The pro-European action on the 677th day of protests also took place in Batumi, where supporters of Eurointegration gathered in front of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, writes Batumelebi.

One of the Georgian political prisoners, protest participant Saba Skhvitariadze, serving time in prison No. 6 in Rustavi, reported a "tense situation" in the facility. According to Skhvitariadze, one of the prisoners, beaten the day before by prison staff, inflicted injuries on himself.

"Right in front of my cell, a prisoner was beaten; I heard the sounds of fighting and blows. Some prisoners were transferred to another prison, and we do not know where they are. Some are being moved to a conflict de-escalation area. Some prisoners have gone on hunger strike," he claims.

"Caucasian Knot" reported that a prisoner from Rustavi prison No. 6, Georgy Davitadze, previously stated in the Appeals Court that he was subjected to sexual violence in a solitary cell. He accused the guards of the violence. The penitentiary service denies the prisoner's allegations of sexual violence.

Since November 28, 2024, participants in the protests in Georgia have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners. Security forces have conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. During the protests, thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution. "Caucasian Knot" has prepared a report "Main points on the persecution of protest participants in Georgia".
