Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov has been elected mayor of Nalchik.
The deputies of the local self-government council of the city of Nalchik unanimously supported the candidacy of Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov for the position of mayor of the capital of Kabardino-Balkaria on Friday.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on June 1, the head of the affairs of the head and government of Kabardino-Balkaria, Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov, became the acting mayor of Nalchik after the sudden death of Taymuraz Akhokhov, who was found dead on May 24 . Akhokhov had been leading the administration of Nalchik since April 2018; prior to that, he held the position of first deputy chairman of the government of Kabardino-Balkaria.

As a result of the open voting, the deputies of the city council unanimously supported the candidacy of Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov, electing him as the Head of the urban district of Nalchik.
Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov is a native of Nalchik, having received professional education in financial accounting at the local state university in 2003, and five years later mastered law at the North Caucasian Academy of State Service, "Kommersant" reported.
Azamatgeriy Ashkhotov's professional activities included service in customs authorities, work in the business sector, and work in the judicial instances of the republic.
