An Astrakhan resident was convicted for calls to extremism.

The Soviet District Court of Astrakhan deemed the materials published by a local resident on social media to be extremist and sentenced him to one and a half years of forced labor.

Investigators established that the Astrakhan resident, born in 1984, posted materials in the public domain on one of the social networks that contained signs of public calls for violent actions against individuals he singled out by nationality. He also called for violent actions against representatives of government authorities.

The local resident was detained in cooperation with the Central Directorate for Combating Extremism of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Astrakhan region and the regional FSB of Russia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Astrakhan region reported today on its official website.

By the verdict of the Soviet District Court, he was found guilty of public calls for extremist activities . He was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months of forced labor with a deduction of 10% from his salary. He is also prohibited from administering websites for a period of 2 years.

The name of the convicted individual was not disclosed in the message; however, according to the criminal case registry on the court's website, this year only one case under Article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation was considered against Vitaly Reznikov. The case was submitted to the court on August 25, and the verdict was delivered on September 21 by Judge Ferapontov with the participation of defender Beresneva.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in Astrakhan, a local resident was suspected of public calls for terrorism after comments calling for terrorist acts against representatives of the authorities. Earlier, the Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don found an Astrakhan resident guilty of public calls for terrorism and extremism and sentenced him to three years in a general regime correctional colony.
