Two Sochi saleswomen were fired for a post about rising prices after the elections.
Svetlana Izhilenko and Alisa Kunyashova were fired from the "Pyaterochka" store in Sochi due to the publication of a video about rising prices the day after the State Duma elections.
Bloggers from Sochi Svetlana Izhilenko and Alisa Kunyashova reported on October 1 that they were fired from the "Pyaterochka" store after a video from September 21. In that video, the girls showed that the day after the elections, prices for products increased by 20-30 rubles, and the video gained 5.4 million views.
"The elections are over, now almost all products cost 20–30 rubles more," says the video on Izhilenko's Instagram page*. The girl shows how she changes the price of the "Mojito" soda — 109 rubles instead of 89, the "Chernogolovka" drink — 129 rubles instead of 109, and the "Ochakovsky" kvass — 199 rubles instead of 154.
"The company was so scared that the girl-blogger could ruin the company's reputation. As if I changed these price tags. <...> Do you understand the absurdity of the situation? To fire two girls from work because of the phrase 'The elections are over — prices have risen'," said Izhilenko in a new video.
"We need maximum publicity! You are our strongest support!!! We were unjustly deprived of our jobs," the girls write, calling for social media users to demand the return of both girls to work from "Pyaterochka".
Under the last post of the retail chain — 492 comments, most of which concern the dismissal of the two girls.
"Why were the girls fired?" asked batalоv_alexey, this comment received 1.8 thousand likes.
"They raised the prices, but fired the girls," was outraged tema.acb, this comment was liked by more than 780 people.
Svetlana Izhilenko's Instagram page* has 11.7 thousand followers, while Alisa Kunyashova, the second participant in the video, has 71 thousand followers.
