Residents of the house on Pirova Street in Makhachkala, severely damaged during the spring flood, blocked traffic on Akushinsky Avenue. The protest action forced the authorities of the city and Dagestan to pay attention to the problems and demands of the citizens.

This evening, residents of the house on Pirova Street, affected during the floods in March, blocked traffic on Akushinsky Avenue — from the Northern bus station towards the trolleybus ring, reported the Telegram channel "Makhach, what happened".

"Despite the assurances of the authorities that 'working solutions have been found' and that the houses will not be demolished, and that soil reinforcement will be carried out, the residents apparently have not received clear answers about the timelines and procedures for restoration. Local residents had already warned the authorities of Makhachkala that they were left alone to solve the problem, but the issue has not been resolved, emphasized "Novoe Delo".

The protest was attended by residents of the houses on Pirova Street, which began to collapse in the spring after heavy rains. People were left without housing, the authorities promised to help them, but the issue is still unresolved. The blockage caused a huge traffic jam. Police arrived at the scene, reported "Sapa Caucasus".

The administration of Makhachkala reported on its Telegram channel that traffic on Akushinsky Avenue has been resumed.

Officials reported that the head of the Soviet district of Makhachkala, Zavur Yakhyaev, the Deputy Minister of Construction of the Republic of Dagestan, Salam Gasayev, the head of the Internal Policy Department of the Makhachkala City Administration, Kurban Kadyrov, the head of the Housing and Utilities Department, Ullibiy Adaev, the head of the Municipal Housing Control Department, Zaur Malachiev, the head of the Emergency Situations Department, Rajab Bagomedov, and other representatives of the city authorities arrived for a meeting with the residents.

"After the spring floods, the residents were resettled, as their stay in the houses was considered unsafe for life and health. All of them were resettled in apartments at the expense of the municipality during the period of carrying out a set of measures to strengthen the soil at the site of the collapse," the message says.

The situation attracted the attention of the Prime Minister of Dagestan Magomed Ramazanov.

"The reasons for what happened today in Makhachkala on Akushinsky Avenue will be the subject of our large separate investigation. I understand the people and their dissatisfaction. After the trials they have gone through, people want to return to normal life as soon as possible. At the moment, as I have been informed, the Comprehensive Action Plan for eliminating the consequences of the emergency situation includes measures for the major repair of Pirova Street in Makhachkala and the adjacent territory with the construction of engineering protective structures in the area of houses No. 10–20. A positive conclusion from the state expertise on the project was received only on September 14, calculations have been made. Those who are completely left without shelter will receive assistance through funds. I will thoroughly investigate the situation, and we will communicate it to everyone. We do not absolve ourselves of responsibility and do not intend to leave this situation unresolved. Everything that needs to be done for the house and the territory will be done," he promised.

The floods caused by heavy rains began in the North Caucasus at the end of March and became one of the most destructive in recent years.
