A soldier from Kalmykia was killed in the SVO zone

Ulyumzhi Nostaev from the Iki-Burul district was killed in combat. Since the beginning of the military operation in Ukraine, authorities and security forces have acknowledged at least 265 fighters from Kalmykia as killed.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by September 25, authorities and security forces acknowledged at least 264 fighters as killed in the special military operation in Ukraine.

Ulyumzhi Nostaev was born on November 25, 1977, in the Buratinsky state farm of the Iki-Burul district. In 1994, he graduated from the Buratinskaya secondary school. In 1995, he was drafted for compulsory military service. In 1996, he participated in combat operations in the Chechen Republic, reported the state news agency "Kalmykia".

In 2023, he signed a contract to participate in the SVO zone and was appointed as the commander of a motorized rifle squad, platoon, company, and battalion. Since June 2024, he led the crew of the 503rd motorized rifle regiment in the special forces unit "Storm". He was killed on July 14, 2024, in the area of the village of Mirnoye in the Zaporizhzhia region. He was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage.

Thus, at least 265 combatants from Kalmykia have been officially recognized as killed on the Ukrainian front. The "Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who have been killed in the military operation. The list is compiled based on data officially announced by representatives of the authorities and security agencies, according to the "Caucasian Knot" report "SVO Statistics: Losses for Southern Russia are Growing".

It was previously reported that Konstantin Maximov from the Iki-Burul district was killed in the military operation.

State awards, memorial plaques, and appearances on "Channel One" do not guarantee support from the state for the families of the killed, according to the material from the "Caucasian Knot" "Three Comrades Served: How Authorities Deny Benefits to Families of Killed Volunteers", which describes the stories of the killed fighters. "He has two Orders of Courage. But no official honors have been given to his family," a relative of one of the killed stated.
