The court in Tbilisi has sentenced TikToker Zurab Kenchiashvili to 20 days in jail; he was found guilty of an administrative offense under the article on insulting citizens.

Kenchiashvili was detained by law enforcement the day before; he is accused of insulting citizens, including a minor, on the social network TikTok.

A protocol was drawn up against him under Article 166 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of Georgia (petty hooliganism), writes "Georgia-online" on September 26.

The court found Kenchiashvili guilty and imposed an administrative arrest of 20 days, reports "Interpressnews".

Recall that, as reported by "Caucasian Knot", the establishment of a new unit to combat "hate speech" was announced in May by the state minister for coordination of law enforcement structures Mamuka Mdinaradze. According to the official, the new unit will monitor all types and channels of public communication for incitement to hatred, instigation to hostility, insults, and "other similar actions". By the beginning of August, in two months of the new unit's work against "hate speech", about 300 administrative cases related to critical comments about the current authorities of Georgia were sent to court.
