A resident of Dagestan, detained for drifting early in the morning on the streets of Makhachkala, did not repent for his actions and should be punished, some Telegram users pointed out. Others argued that racetracks and circuits should be built for speed enthusiasts.
A complaint was received by the Telegram bot of the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Republic of Dagestan from a resident of Makhachkala stating that around 5 a.m., a driver of a BMW car staged a show right under the windows of his house on the street, performing controlled skids, drifting, creating loud noise, and disturbing residents' rest and sleep, the traffic police of Dagestan reported today on their Telegram channel.
The violator turned out to be a 25-year-old resident of the Kazbekovsky district, who was taken to the police station for clarification.
"All administrative materials provided for by law have been collected against the driver. In addition, materials have been gathered to decide on initiating a criminal case under Article 267.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - committing actions that threaten the safe operation of vehicles," the publication states.
A video is attached to it, in which a young man, answering questions from an officer off-camera, said that he did not know how much time had actually passed. According to him, he wanted to check the condition of the car after repairs, so he made "a couple of laps," thinking it was already 8-9 a.m. He did not apologize but advised other road users that "such things should not be done within the city at least."

Other local residents, commenting on the video featuring the young man on social media, doubted the effectiveness of public repentance as a preventive measure.
