The Chechen prosecutor's office refused to recognize the abduction of Movlaev's parents.

The fact of the abduction of Khava and Movsar Movlaev in Chechnya has not been confirmed, and the investigation's decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case due to the absence of a crime event has been recognized as lawful, said the Chechen prosecutor's office.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on June 21, it became known that the parents of Chechen native Mansur Movlaev, who were allegedly taken away by unknown individuals in early June, according to Movlaev and his supporters, have returned home.

The Chechen prosecutor's office reviewed the inquiry regarding the alleged abduction of Khava Movlaeva and Movsar Movlaev. The agency indicated that the investigative check did not confirm the fact of a crime, and the decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case was recognized as lawful, human rights activist Maxim Rudnev reported today.

A photocopy of the prosecutor's response was published today by Rudnev on his Telegram channel.

"According to this report, an inspection was conducted in the third department for the investigation of particularly important cases of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for Chechnya in accordance with Articles 144-145 of the Criminal Procedure Code, during which the fact of a crime was not confirmed. In this regard, a decision was made to refuse to initiate a criminal case based on paragraph 1 of part 1 of Article 24 of the Criminal Procedure Code, due to the absence of a crime event," the prosecutor's response stated.

The prosecutor's office recognized the decision made by the investigation as lawful and indicated that there were no grounds for taking prosecutorial response measures.

It should be noted that Mansur Movlaev was detained by security forces in Chechnya in 2022 and was held in an illegal prison. He escaped from there in January 2023 and made it to Kyrgyzstan. In August 2023, security forces in Kyrgyzstan detained Movlaev, who was wanted in Russia on charges of financing extremism. A court in Bishkek sentenced Movlaev to six months in a penal colony and subsequent deportation from the country. On November 20, 2023, Movlaev was released and left Kyrgyzstan on his own to avoid being sent back home.

In May 2025, Movlaev was detained in Kazakhstan and placed under extradition arrest. The Prosecutor General's Office of Kazakhstan ruled to extradite him to Russian security forces. In February, the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan suspended the execution of the decision to extradite Movlaev until his asylum application was finally considered. On September 10, it became known that the cassation court in Kazakhstan found no violations in the refusal to grant asylum to Chechen native Mansur Movlaev. Chechen native Mansur Movlaev, held in a Kazakhstani pre-trial detention center, attempted to commit suicide.
