The number of killed fighters in Ukraine from southern Russia has exceeded 9750.
At least 4846 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4906 from the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", by August 29, at least 9650 fighters from southern Russia were officially recognized as killed in the military operation in Ukraine: 4798 from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4852 from the Southern Federal District.
"Caucasian Knot" maintains a named list of natives from the North Caucasus Federal District and Southern Federal District who have been killed in the military operation. The list is compiled in accordance with current laws and based on data announced by officials - from governors to village heads, as well as representatives of law enforcement agencies.
According to "Caucasian Knot", by September 26, officials and law enforcement representatives officially recognized at least 9752 fighters from southern Russia as killed in the military operation: 4846 from the North Caucasus Federal District and 4906 from the Southern Federal District.
The highest number of killed remains in Dagestan - 2123. The deaths of 976 fighters from the Stavropol Krai, 591 from North Ossetia, 474 from Kabardino-Balkaria , 265 from Chechnya , 212 from Ingushetia, and 205 from Karachay-Cherkessia have also been confirmed.
Among the regions of the Southern Federal District, the highest number of killed (1836) is from the Volgograd region. Also recognized as killed are 1016 fighters from the Rostov region, 886 from the Krasnodar Krai, 763 from the Astrakhan region, 264 from Kalmykia, and 141 from Adygea.
It should be noted that the actual losses among combatants from the North Caucasus may be significantly higher than those officially recognized. This situation is characteristic of all regions of the North Caucasus Federal District, but is especially relevant for Chechnya. Ramzan Kadyrov in February 2023 called on regional leaders not to disclose the number of killed. "I do not understand when regional leaders trumpet the number of those killed in the special military operation. I have a question: for what? There is no need to manipulate the topic of our heroes, writing that so many were killed in one region and so many in another," he stated.
On September 21, 2022, Vladimir Putin announced "partial mobilization". On October 28 of the same year, the Minister of Defense reported to the president about its completion, but no corresponding decree followed. After the announcement of mobilization, attempts were recorded in the southern regions of Russia to mobilize people who, due to age or health conditions, should not be sent to the combat zone.
