Demonstrators in Tbilisi on the 666th day of protests gathered at the Parliament of Georgia with symbolic posters, demanding a change in the country's political leadership.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 23, on the 666th day of continuous actions, residents of Tbilisi gathered at the Parliament demanding a change in the political course.
Activists with national flags and European Union flags gathered today at the building of the Parliament of Georgia and near the Tbilisi City Council for the 666th evening in a row, demanding the release of political prisoners, the repeal of repressive laws, as well as free elections and a return to the Euro-Atlantic course, reports Publika.
Demonstrators held posters: “Down with the sect of dreamers,” “No justice, no peace,” “Those who do not build schools build prisons,” “I am from Georgia and my country is occupied by Russia,” according to photos published by photographer Georgy Mosiashvili (Mo Se) and Georgian media on Facebook*.
Activists also had symbolic posters dedicated to the 666th day of actions: “Kotsy, to hell with you,” “Bidzina 666, disappear Satan,” “666 is the mark of the beast, we know who that beast is,” and “666 day – a symptom of mental disorder, whose?”.
The Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, during his visit to Luxembourg stated that European officials halted the process of the country's accession to the European Union in 2024 in order to “interfere in the elections in Georgia and exert influence.” He called the EU's decision “unjustified and unfair.”
“We believe that it is time for the European Union to reconsider this wrong decision,” quotes Papuashvili's words JAMnews.
Participants in the protests in Georgia since November 28, 2024, have been demanding new parliamentary elections and the release of political prisoners. Law enforcement has conducted harsh dispersals of protests, using tear gas and water cannons, and detained protesters. During the protests, thousands of people have faced administrative prosecution.
