The case of a Krasnodar resident regarding fakes about the army has gone to court.
A resident of Krasnodar faces up to ten years in prison, as employees of the Center "E" identified deliberately false information about the Russian armed forces in his posts.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", at the end of July, investigators charged a resident of Krasnodar with seven episodes of spreading fakes about the Russian army motivated by political and national hatred. The man was placed in a pre-trial detention center.
Article 207.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation on the dissemination of fakes about the army was introduced on March 4, 2022, after the start of the Russian operation in Ukraine. This article of the Criminal Code contradicts the Constitution of Russia, as well as basic principles of law, human rights activists stated.
In Krasnodar, a criminal case against a 51-year-old local resident accused of seven episodes of spreading fakes about the Russian army has been sent to court. The charges, aggravated by the motive of political and national hatred , provide for a sentence of five to ten years in prison.
According to the prosecution's version, from August 2024 to February 2025, the Krasnodar resident published deliberately false information about the actions of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation during the special military operation on his social media page, accessible to an unlimited number of internet users. The man's posts attracted the attention of employees of the Center "E" of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The defendant remains in custody, and during the investigation, he admitted his guilt. "The criminal case with an approved indictment has been sent to court for substantive consideration," the Kuban Investigative Committee reported on its Telegram channel on September 23.
The agency's message did not specify which court would consider the man's case. The occupation of the accused, the name of the social network, and the specific content of the publications have not been disclosed by the investigation, and the justification for the motives of "political and national hatred" is also not provided in the release.
The "Caucasian Knot" currently does not have comments from the accused or his lawyer.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that a court in Sochi sentenced local resident Evgeny Krasnikov to three years in prison, recognizing his posts on social media as "deliberately false information" about the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The man was also charged with calls for violence against "Russian people."
