The Republic of Nauru, which decided this summer to sever diplomatic relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia, has established diplomatic relations with Georgia.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", at the end of July, the Republic of Nauru decided to sever diplomatic relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia; according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Abkhazia, this was done "under conditions of unprecedented and systematic external pressure".
Georgia and the Republic of Nauru established diplomatic relations; the relevant document was signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and President of Nauru David Adeang in New York on September 22, reports "News-Georgia".
Kobakhidze thanked Adeang for the decision to sever diplomatic relations with Abkhazia and South Ossetia and to refuse to recognize their independence. He also expressed hope that in the coming years, the partnership between the two countries will deepen.
Let us remind you that Abkhazia was recognized as an independent state by the Republic of Nauru on December 15, 2009.
