The search for tourists on Mount Dykhtau ended without results.

Rescuers surveyed the mountainous area in the Cherek region of Kabardino-Balkaria from a helicopter, where two climbers went missing, but they could not be found.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", tourists from Tolyatti and Nizhny Novgorod were traveling along a difficult route on Mount Dykhtau in Kabardino-Balkaria and were supposed to complete their hike on September 20, but they did not make contact. The search on September 21 yielded no results.

Employees of the Elbrus high-altitude search and rescue team of the Ministry of Emergency Situations flew over the area where the two tourists went missing on a departmental MI-8 helicopter, but aerial observation did not yield positive results.

"As of 19:00, search and rescue operations have been suspended. The search is planned to resume on the morning of September 23," the message on the page of the republican Ministry of Emergency Situations on VKontakte states.

The tourists are being searched for at an altitude of 3500-3800 meters above sea level. The missing climbers are professional guides, TASS reported today, citing the director of the "Bezenge" alpine camp, Aliya Anaeva.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in the evening of September 6, an avalanche descended from Mount Mijirgi on a group of 33 climbers, among whom were employees of the National Guard. Ten members of the group descended on their own, and another six were hospitalized with injuries. Only on September 13 was the operation to search for 17 deceased completed.

The death of climbers in the Bezenge Gorge became the most massive incident in Russian mountainous areas in a quarter of a century, TASS noted, citing its own calculations.
