The minor from Kabardino-Balkaria was convicted of attacking police officers.
The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced a minor resident of Kabardino-Balkaria to 7 years in prison for preparing a terrorist act and attacking police officers in 2024.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in November 2025, a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria was accused of failing to report a crime in connection with the attack on law enforcement officers on July 4, 2024, in Nalchik. According to investigators, the young resident of the Urvansky district was acquainted with the participants of the July attack on law enforcement officers and knew about their plans, but did not notify the authorities.
The attack on police officers occurred on July 4, 2024, at the corner of Nogmov Street and Lenin Avenue in Nalchik. There, a traffic police unit stopped a taxi that had run a red light. A young man with a knife jumped out of the car and attacked one of the officers. One attacker was shot dead, while the other managed to escape. The head of Kabardino-Balkaria, Kazbek Kokov, confirmed that the attacker was killed, but did not provide any information about the second. In mid-September, a teenager was arrested, whom law enforcement considers the second participant in the attack on the traffic police unit in Nalchik. At the end of October 2025, his case was sent to court for consideration.
According to the court, in 2024, a unit of the banned international terrorist organization "Islamic State"* was created in the territory of Kabardino-Balkaria, which the convicted person joined. On July 3, the members of the community decided to commit a terrorist act - to attack police officers and seize their service weapons, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported today on its page on "VKontakte".
On July 4, the defendant and the leader of the cell arrived at the administrative building of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Nalchik. They wanted to enter through the main entrance and attack police officers with knives to take their weapons, but the door to the building was locked.
After that, they walked around the territory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs several times and noticed a patrol car of the traffic police, in which inspectors were patrolling. To attract attention, they threw a stone at the car. When one of the police officers approached the attackers, the leader of the terrorist cell ran up from behind and stabbed him with a knife.
The traffic police officer, resisting, jumped into a trench dug for repair work, which prevented the attackers from seizing the service weapon. Operatives who witnessed the incident opened fire on the attacker, who died on the spot from his injuries. The second accomplice managed to escape but was later detained.
The court found the defendant guilty of participating in the activities of a terrorist organization, in two episodes of assisting terrorist activities, preparing a terrorist act, attempting to kill a police officer, and attempting to seize weapons, and sentenced him to seven years in prison. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a general regime colony.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in January 2026, a 16-year-old resident of Kabardino-Balkaria was detained, accused of preparing an attack on police officers in Nalchik on the orders of a representative of a terrorist organization.
