The FSB reported the detention of weapons manufacturers in southern Russia.

In 43 regions, including seven regions of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District, suspects in the underground modernization of weapons and their sale have been detained.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", the FSB has repeatedly reported on the results of raids on underground weapons workshops. Thus, in August 2024, the special service reported the detention of suspects in the underground modernization of weapons and their sale in 51 regions, including in 10 regions of southern Russia.

FSB employees, in cooperation with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard, "suppressed illegal activities" of 111 residents of 43 regions, suspected of involvement "in the illegal circulation of weapons, as well as restoring the combat capabilities of civilian models of weapons in underground workshops and their sale," the FSB reported today on its website.

According to the agency, investigative actions were carried out "at the addresses of illegal arms dealers," including in seven regions of the North Caucasus Federal District and the Southern Federal District: Adygea, Dagestan, North Ossetia, Karachay-Cherkessia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Volgograd, and Rostov regions. The agency did not specify how many people were detained in each region.

"297 units of firearms of domestic and foreign production were seized from illegal circulation: 11 grenade launchers, 4 submachine guns, 6 machine guns, 1 assault rifle, 74 automatic rifles, 77 pistols and revolvers, 124 rifles, carbines, and shotguns, as well as 223 grenades, 82.5 kg of explosives, and 92,000 cartridges of various calibers. The activities of 37 underground workshops for the modernization of weapons and the manufacture of ammunition have been terminated," the special service reported.

Recall that in October 2023, the FSB reported that in 38 regions, including the republics of the North Caucasus Federal District, suspects in the underground modernization of weapons and their sale were detained.

Earlier, the agency reported that in June-July 2023, in 53 regions, including Dagestan, North Ossetia, Krasnodar, and Stavropol territories, Astrakhan, Volgograd, and Rostov regions, suspects in the underground modernization of weapons and their sale were detained.

In May 2023, the agency reported that suspects in the modernization of weapons and their sale were detained, including in the republics of the North Caucasus and Stavropol Krai. In November 2022, the FSB reported the detention of weapons manufacturers in 31 regions, including Ingushetia, North Ossetia, Stavropol Krai, Krasnodar Krai, and Rostov region.
