The government of Russia has decided to compensate Chechnya for the costs of providing assistance to those affected by the spring flooding. The total amount includes funds spent on providing one-time material assistance and compensating for damages to villagers who have completely or partially lost their property.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", 46,644 residents of Chechnya, affected during the flooding this spring, received payments. On August 7, the head of the Chechen government, Magomed Daudov, reported that an additional 505 million rubles had been allocated from the republican budget to assist those affected by the floods. Another 320.7 million rubles from the federal budget was directed to support affected agricultural producers.

More than 134 million rubles will be allocated to Chechnya from the reserve fund of the Russian government to compensate for the costs of assisting those affected by the spring flooding, according to a decree from the government of Russia published on the legal information website.

"To allocate in 2026 to the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for providing another inter-budget transfer to the budget of the Chechen Republic for the financial support of certain measures to eliminate the emergency situation that arose as a result of a series of adverse meteorological phenomena in March - April 2026 in the territories of the Republic of Dagestan and the Chechen Republic, budget allocations in the amount of 134,178 thousand rubles from the reserve fund of the Russian government, considering the reimbursement of expenses incurred in 2026 by the budget of the Chechen Republic related to the implementation of measures aimed at providing citizens with one-time material assistance and financial aid," the document states.

The decree specifies that 8.7 million rubles were allocated for providing residents with one-time material assistance, 77.7 million for assistance due to partial loss of essential property, and another 47.6 million for assistance due to complete loss of property.

It is worth noting that as of the end of July, more than 52,000 applications had been submitted by residents of Chechnya affected by the floods. On the same day, a reader of "Caucasian Knot" reported that several families known to him, who lost property and livestock, had not received the promised payments.

The floods caused by heavy rains began in the North Caucasus at the end of March and became one of the most destructive in recent years.
