The Cherkessk City Court kept five defendants in custody in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Pension Fund of Russia, including the brother of the head of Ingushetia, Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on February 13, the Cherkessk City Court completed the announcement of the indictment in the case of 29 people accused of embezzlement from the Pension Fund in Ingushetia. 27 out of 29 defendants did not plead guilty. Among the accused are 16 women, 13 of whom are in pre-trial detention. Their lawyers stated that the defendants complain about "inhuman conditions" in the Armavir pre-trial detention center. In early April, the court ruled to transfer 14 defendants from the Armavir pre-trial detention center to the Cherkessk pre-trial detention center. On April 19, the court left three defendants in the case under house arrest, while another 26 remained in custody.
On September 11, the Cherkessk City Court did not satisfy the defense's petitions to change the detention of five defendants in the case of embezzlement of funds from the Pension Fund in Ingushetia to house arrest, TASS reports.
The court refused to mitigate the preventive measure for the defendants Aset Malsagova, Madinat Galaeva, Mareem Said-Ibrahim, Madina Tsetsoeva, and Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov. The defense of the latter requested to change the preventive measure due to health reasons.
It should be noted that the criminal case regarding the embezzlement of funds from the Pension Fund, one of the defendants of which is Magomed-Bashir Kalimatov - the brother of the head of Ingushetia Mahmud-Ali Kalimatov, was submitted to the Cherkessk City Court in December 2025. The Ingush FSB reported in February 2023 about numerous facts of illegal pension registrations totaling more than 2 billion rubles. Charges of embezzlement were brought against 34 people. According to the investigation, the criminal community, which operated from 2019 to 2021, was created by the head of the Pension Fund in Ingushetia, Islam Seinaroyev, and the head of the Ingush branch of "Russian Post", Kambulat Sukiev.
