The court canceled the registration of the Sochi candidate from "Yabloko" Atamanchuk.
The Krasnodar Regional Court canceled the registration of Vladimir Atamanchuk as a candidate for the State Duma in the South single-member district No. 54. The basis was an election material that the plaintiff considered extremist.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on September 10, the candidate for the State Duma in the South single-member district No. 54, Vladimir Atamanchuk, was detained in Sochi. According to Atamanchuk, a protocol was drawn up against him for discrediting the Russian army due to the wording of his election leaflet.
In August, Vladimir Atamanchuk spoke about difficulties with election meetings: the heads of Sochi institutions refused him upon learning of his nomination from "Yabloko". "My campaign, you could say, is taking place underground," - he stated then to a correspondent of "Caucasian Knot".
The basis for the lawsuit to cancel Atamanchuk's registration was information that he ordered and paid for election material containing "extremist content" from a special election fund, intended for use during the election campaign. The lawsuit states that Atamanchuk violated the norms of several federal laws and therefore cannot be a candidate for the State Duma, according to a statement from the unified press service of the courts of the Krasnodar region.
Court representatives did not specify who exactly filed the lawsuit. According to "Caucasian Knot", the cancellation of Atamanchuk's registration was demanded by the candidate from the same district, Andrey Titov, nominated by the Russian ecological party "Greens".
The court heard the arguments of the parties, studied the materials of the administrative case, and found grounds to satisfy the request, as noted in the statement. "The registration of the candidate for the State Duma (...) Atamanchuk has been canceled," - informed the Telegram channel OPS Kuban.
What specific wording in the election material the court considered extremist, which laws were violated, and who acted as the plaintiff were not specified in the press service's statement. There is also no information on whether Atamanchuk participated in the hearing.
On September 10, Atamanchuk himself told "Caucasian Knot" that the police had complaints about his election material due to the call for "immediate agreement on a ceasefire", words about the "fratricidal conflict with the people of Ukraine", and statements about "rivers of blood and an ocean of human grief".
Currently, "Caucasian Knot" does not have comments from Vladimir Atamanchuk and Andrey Titov regarding the court's decision.
