A sticker with the Instagram* logo led a villager in Dagestan to a fine.
The Kaitag District Court fined a resident of the village of Madzhalis for a sticker with the symbols of the banned Instagram*, which she posted six years ago to advertise a store.
According to the court, on September 4, 2026, a sticker with the logo and nickname of the social network Instagram*, banned in Russia by the decision of the Tver District Court of Moscow on March 21, 2022, was found on the wall of a store in the village of Madzhalis.
The woman explained that she made and posted the sticker in 2020–2021 for advertising the store, was unaware of the ban, and forgot to remove it after the store closed, the united press service of the courts of Dagestan reported on their Telegram channel.
The propaganda or public demonstration of Nazi attributes or symbols, or attributes or symbols of extremist organizations entails an administrative fine on citizens in the amount of one thousand to two thousand rubles with the confiscation of the object of the administrative offense, or administrative arrest for up to fifteen days with the confiscation of the object of the administrative offense, or compulsory work for up to one hundred hours with the confiscation of the object of the administrative offense, according to the reference legal system "ConsultantPlus".
The court took into account mitigating circumstances, as well as the fact that the sticker was used for commercial purposes, and imposed a fine of one thousand rubles. The sticker was confiscated and will be destroyed.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in May, at least six people in Dagestan were fined for displaying the Instagram* logo on signs and in publications. Telegram users considered the law enforcement's zeal excessive.
