The Belarusian citizen was convicted of preparing a terrorist attack in Novorossiysk

The Southern District Military Court sentenced Belarusian citizen Matvey Kitov to 25 years in prison. According to the prosecution, he was preparing a terrorist attack at the military service selection point in Novorossiysk.

According to the investigation and the court, in December 2024, Kitov began corresponding with a person who introduced himself as an employee of the Security Service of Ukraine. During the communication, Kitov agreed to cooperate.

In February 2025, Kitov received an assignment to carry out a terrorist attack. According to the investigation, he was supposed to use a homemade explosive device to blow up the military service selection point for contract service in Novorossiysk, the press service of the Southern District Military Court reported today, citing RIA "Novosti".

The convicted received a message from an SBU employee with instructions on assembling and activating the explosive device, after which he arrived in Novorossiysk and retrieved parts of the device from a cache. He hid them in another cache. He was later detained.
In court, Matvey Kitov pleaded guilty, stating that he received 805 dollars from an SBU employee for carrying out the terrorist attack.
"In accordance with the court's verdict, the defendant is found guilty and sentenced to 25 years in a strict regime correctional colony, with the first five years to be served in prison and a fine of 300,000 rubles," the court's message states.

Matvey Kitov is 26 years old, he was born in the city of Novopolotsk in the Vitebsk region, according to the record in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. According to a bot that tracks updates in this list, Kitov's data with a note of involvement in terrorism was added there long before the verdict, on April 14, 2025.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on the night of September 8 to 9, as a result of a drone attack, 472 apartments were damaged in 73 apartment buildings and 69 private households. Six households in the Eastern district were damaged almost to the ground.
