Villagers in Dagestan complained about the conditions in the local school.
Children in the village of Gyukhrag in the Tabasaransky district study in a building that resembles a barn, local residents reported. The local administration promised to build a new school for 150 students in 2028.
Residents of the village of Gyukhrag complained that for 10 years they have been unable to achieve the construction of a new school to replace the closed emergency one. Students have to go to different houses that are rented for the purpose of educating children.
A video from a village resident was published by the Telegram channel Mash Gor, which has over 44 thousand subscribers. By 20:44 Moscow time, the post had gained over 3 thousand views.
The old school building in the village of Gyukhrag was recognized as emergency in 2019. Authorities prohibited classes there and moved lessons to a rented private house. The father of one of the children showed what the classrooms look like: old desks with huge cracks, collapsing chairs, damaged floors and ceilings. The whitewash is falling from the walls onto the desks.
"This is the village of Gyukhrag, Tabasaransky district. We have a large village, almost 400 households. Our school was closed 10 years ago, now a private house is rented. One class is there, another class is a kilometer away. It's a mess," says a local resident in the video.
Villagers believe that the situation is even worse now. The rented house is a complete mess. "It would have been better to keep the school that was closed 10 years ago. Now the children study in a barn," they say.
On September 5, 2025, a delegation from the village of Gyukhrag consisting of seven people came to the district administration to discuss the situation with the organization of the educational process in the settlement, where the school was recognized as emergency back in 2019. Since then, school classes for 150 students have been held in a private house and in the former medical post, the administration's press service reported on its Telegram channel.
At that time, the administration told them that project documentation for this school had been prepared several years ago and received a positive conclusion from the state examination, but the start of construction was delayed, despite the fact that the district leadership did everything possible to start construction.
"In the coming years, construction will definitely begin. For now, there are 2 options - continue classes in a private house or transport children to school in neighboring villages - in Sirtich and Chulat," the district authorities' message stated.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in the village of Irib in the Charodinsky district of Dagestan, the school line was held in a madrasa, as the school building was not ready for the start of the school year. Residents of the republic, commenting on a post about this on social media, criticized officials for the prolonged resolution of the school problem.
