The lack of minibuses in Nalchik has complicated the journey for schoolchildren and students to their studies.

Due to the lack of minibuses, schoolchildren and students in Nalchik are late for classes and are forced to wait a long time for transport, a local resident complained on social media. Other residents, commenting on her complaint, confirmed the long intervals between transport and noted that students have to get to schools and universities with transfers, on foot, or by taxi.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", residents of Nalchik have repeatedly complained about the public transport system. For instance, on August 19, 2024, residents of Nalchik complained about the long wait for buses and drivers not adhering to the schedule. On October 28 of the same year, residents of Nalchik and the Chereksky district pointed out the irregular operation of minibuses, including in the evening when children had to get home after classes and training.

A resident of Nalchik complained about the operation of minibus No. 18, which students take from Aleksandrovka to the university. According to her, only two or three minibuses are operating on the route, and students have to wait a long time for them at the stops. The complaint from the Nalchik resident was published in the Instagram*-public goloskbr.

"Since the beginning of the school year, children have been constantly late for university due to the negligent operation of minibus number 18. Only 2-3 minibuses have been put on the road, and they don’t want to run at all," the resident of Nalchik wrote.

She reported that her daughter waited for a minibus for about 40 minutes, but after its arrival, the driver dropped off two passengers and left for his own business. The day before, according to her, the driver of another minibus talked for a long time with someone and then stated that he would not go until the cabin was full. The author of the complaint requested an increase in the number of minibuses, noting that many students travel from Aleksandrovka to their studies.

This post in the Instagram*-public goloskbr, which has about 192 thousand followers, had received 275 likes and 131 comments by 11:00 Moscow time on September 8.

Parents and students confirmed that due to the long wait for minibuses, students are late for classes. "This is probably the case on all routes, except for 14 and 2a. It seems that only they run regularly, regardless of the season and time of day. I travel daily from Iskozh to Gornaya at 6, and it’s a whole story. But the return trip is already a thriller (the interval between them can reach one hour). On September 2, a girl was traveling with her son and was late for the first lesson of this school year precisely because of route No. 6, she stood at the stop for 50 minutes. Please pay attention to the work of the minibus drivers," wrote _markiza_60.

"The 18th route has always been poorly operated. And in the comments, there was a very sensible suggestion about the bus fleet, there is bus 14. Instead of standing for 40-50 minutes with no guarantee you’ll get one, it’s better to walk there and sit down. In my time, we sometimes were late for the first class because of this route, then trolleybus No. 7 appeared. By the way, it also now goes to KBGU," noted marziyat_ligidova.

"Do you even think about what you’re saying, how will a child go to school from Aleksandrovka to the university? My child also enrolled this year, and this minibus is very painful, I don’t know what to do at all," complained madam__zali__.

Other commentators pointed out that trips with transfers, by taxi, or on foot increase family expenses and complicate students' journeys. "You probably drive your kids in a carriage, so you’re not worried. With a transfer, you have to pay twice as much, and I don’t have just one student," wrote lyu_bov88888.

"The problem is not with the transfer, but that sometimes there is no money for this transfer, especially if more than one child is studying," noted user ogro_1978.

Some users demanded to ensure the normal operation of public transport. "It is a direct obligation to run the route on time, since they have made buses along the entire line for themselves, everything is in the hands of private operators, they work as they want. Why should a child walk from the final stop in Aleksandrovka to the university, and why should they call a taxi or run for another bus?" complained irina_vorokova07.
