A resident of Dagestan has been conditionally sentenced for calls to extremism.

A Telegram user from the Babayurt district of Dagestan has been sentenced to one year of conditional imprisonment. According to the court, his published video contained calls for extremism.

According to the court and investigation, the defendant registered in the Telegram messenger, where he created a channel that contained prohibited extremist video materials. The case was considered by the Babayurt District Court.

The court believes that his actions were intentional, aimed at inciting hatred against individuals distinguished by their religious beliefs. He used a mobile phone to distribute the prohibited video materials. In court, the man fully admitted his guilt, the united press service of the courts of Dagestan reports today on their Telegram channel.

The court found him guilty of publicly calling for extremist activities and sentenced him to one year of conditional imprisonment with a probation period of one year. Additionally, the convicted person is prohibited from administering websites, forums, groups, and chats for two years, as well as publishing any materials in the digital space.

The press service did not disclose the name of the convicted person, nor did the message specify what kind of video materials were published by him. According to the criminal case registry on the website of the Babayurt District Court, the last sentence under this article was issued on September 7 by Judge Aitmanbetova, and the name of the convicted person is hidden in the case file.

The "Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Kizlyar investigative department initiated a criminal case against a 23-year-old local resident. According to the investigation, his published audio recording on the internet contained calls for terrorism. Earlier, the investigative department for the city of Kaspiysk initiated a criminal case against a resident of Kaspiysk due to an audio recording posted online, which, according to the investigation, contained signs of justification of terrorism.
