A third case has been initiated against the journalist arrested for a comment about Dudayev.

Arrested in June 2026 for publicly justifying terrorism, journalist and author of the Telegram channel "Nothing will happen in Mari El" Alexey Seregin* reported that a third criminal case has been opened against him - for inciting hatred and hostility towards a group of individuals.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in early June, a court in Yoshkar-Ola placed journalist Alexey Seregin* in a pre-trial detention center, who was detained for a comment about Dzhokhar Dudayev. Seregin reported that in June, a second criminal case was opened against him - for failure to fulfill the duties of a foreign agent - due to a post that hung without a label for several minutes.

The reason for initiating the case was a comment about Dzhokhar Dudayev, "justifying illegal armed formations in Chechnya in the 1990s," left in 2024. Law enforcement detained the journalist on June 4 at a bus stop. During the detention, he was beaten and his phone was seized, after which he was taken home for a search.

Journalist from Yoshkar-Ola Alexey Seregin* reported that a new case has been opened against him, the details of the case are unknown, writes "Horizontal Russia"*.

"A third criminal case has been initiated - this time under part 1 of article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation - for inciting hatred and hostility towards a group of individuals," Seregin* wrote in his Telegram channel.

"Since the moment of my arrest, I did not believe the reassuring words of the lawyer. I thought I was heading for certain death behind bars," he noted.

According to him, on September 3, he was transferred to the pre-trial detention center No. 2 in Kazan. "I was transported in a 'paddy wagon' with two other prisoners. The journey was hard, but I was lucky that there was no heat. It would have been much worse. There are 15 people in the cell with me. The living conditions here are worse than in Yoshkar-Ola: there is no toilet and refrigerator," the journalist reported.
