The amount of compensation awarded by the court in Adygeisk in the case of Askhabali Alibekov has drawn criticism online.
Commentators online considered the compensation of 20,000 rubles awarded to Askhabali Alibekov too small and urged him to continue seeking justice. The Teuchezh District Court partially satisfied the blogger's claim against the colony for one million rubles, Alibekov himself reported.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on March 3, Alibekov was released from colony No. 1 in Adygea after serving time for a case involving violence against a police officer. After his release, he stated that he had not changed his views and intended to continue his public activities.
Askhabali Alibekov is a native of Dagestan, a former serviceman, and the author of the YouTube channel "Wild Paratrooper," where he published videos criticizing the Russian authorities. In 2017, a military court sentenced him to three years of probation, establishing that Alibekov, while serving as a platoon commander, struck a subordinate and broke his jaw. Alibekov admitted his guilt. In March 2018, he reported that he was dismissed from service in the navy after publicly calling on Vladimir Putin to step down as president. That same year, Alibekov was detained before a trip to an opposition rally in Moscow, and later his probation was replaced with real imprisonment after an administrative arrest for disobeying the police.
On August 31, Askhabali Alibekov reported that the Teuchezh District Court of Adygea had completed the consideration of his lawsuit against correctional colony No. 1, where he served his sentence.
"Today we partially won this case. That is, the judge considered my lawsuit today and made a decision in my favor. We filed a claim for one million rubles, and won 20,000. Well, that's not important. The fact is that we won this case," Alibekov said in a video.
Alibekov published the video on August 31 on his YouTube channel "Wild Paratrooper," which has about 121,000 subscribers. As of 08:50 Moscow time on September 4, the video had garnered 53.3 views and 492 comments.
Users ironically assessed the size of the court's compensation. "They laughed at him, not he won," believes Sergey_Moscow_msk.

Other users considered the decision just the first step and urged Alibekov to continue to fight for his rights. "20,000, it's a start," noted sheldor76.

Recall that in 2022, Askhabali Alibekov was twice held administratively liable for discrediting the army. One of the protocols was drawn up after the publication of a video calling to stop the special operation in Ukraine, and in July 2022, a court fined the blogger 50,000 rubles for a video from a solitary picket. In September 2022, Alibekov was detained in a criminal case for repeated discrediting of the army, and in November 2022, human rights activists recognized him as a political prisoner.
In March 2023, the court sentenced Alibekov to one year and two months of imprisonment for discrediting the army. In November of the same year, he was released and complained about the conditions of detention in the colony. Subsequently, the cassation court overturned this sentence and sent the case for a new trial, and later the proceedings were terminated due to the expiration of the statute of limitations.
In February 2024, Alibekov was detained in Kazan. According to the investigation, during the detention, he struck a police officer twice on the leg; Alibekov himself claimed that he accidentally hit the officer when his arms were being twisted. In October 2024, the court sentenced him to two years and four months in a colony, later the term was reduced by four months. Before his release, the Teuchezh District Court of Adygea established administrative supervision over Alibekov.
