Three residents of the Rostov region were convicted for setting fire to an electric locomotive.
The Southern District Military Court sentenced two minors and their 20-year-old acquaintance Ilya Doroshenko to imprisonment for up to 13 years for setting fire to a freight train electric locomotive at the Rostov-Tovarniy station.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in mid-December 2024, law enforcement officials reported the detention of suspects in the railway arson. Two teenagers, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl, set fire to the cabin of the electric locomotive at the Rostov-Tovarniy station, and their 18-year-old acquaintance was paid 150,000 rubles for this. In October 2025, they were charged with committing a terrorist act.
According to the court and investigation, 20-year-old Ilya Doroshenko, along with two minor acquaintances, agreed to set fire to the section of the electric locomotive for 150,000 rubles. This task was proposed by an unknown user of the Telegram messenger, reports RIA "Novosti" citing the press service of the FSB for the Rostov region.
A criminal case was initiated against Doroshenko and the two minors under part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (terrorist act). Additionally, a criminal case was initiated against Doroshenko under part 1.1 of article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (aiding terrorist activity). The articles provide for imprisonment from twelve to twenty years and from eight to fifteen years, respectively.
The Southern District Military Court sentenced Ilya Doroshenko to 13 years in a strict regime colony, with the first three years to be served in prison. The minor was sentenced to 8.5 years in a juvenile correctional facility, and another defendant received a 6.5-year suspended sentence with a probation period of three years.
Ilya Doroshenko was born on July 17, 2006, in Rostov-on-Don, according to the record in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. According to a bot that tracks updates in this list, Doroshenko's data with a note of involvement in terrorism was added there long before the verdict, on December 26, 2024.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in June, investigators sent to court a criminal case against an 18-year-old resident of the Rostov region, who is accused of committing two terrorist acts on railway infrastructure facilities.
