In Volgograd, huge queues have formed at gas stations, and by the end of the day, gasoline completely ran out, local drivers complained.

In August, drivers in the region again faced a shortage of gasoline.

A correspondent from "Caucasian Knot" surveyed Volgograd drivers on August 31, who complained that problems with fuel availability in the region continue. The survey is not representative and reflects only the private opinions of those surveyed.

A resident of the Central district of Volgograd Olga Kitaeva tracks the dynamics of fuel prices in the city. The Kitaevs usually refuel their car at the "Lukoil" gas station located on Pakhomenko Street and Rokossovsky Avenue.

Cars are standing still, but drivers say there is no fuel, and when it will be delivered is unknown.

"Today (August 31), a long queue began to form at the gas station on Pakhomenko Street early in the morning. It stretched along the adjacent Hiroshima Street almost to Rokossovsky Avenue - over a kilometer long. I met acquaintances who said there was a queue here yesterday too. But not as long. Now (at 19:30 MSK) I passed by. Cars are standing still, but drivers say there is no fuel, and when it will be delivered is unknown," the woman said.

On the display on the morning of August 31, only two positions were reflected - diesel (72.11 rubles, a week ago the price was 79.37 rubles) and A-92 (65.65 rubles, a week ago - 66.16 rubles). There was an announcement at the cash register: "Limit for one vehicle: gasoline - 40 liters, diesel - 60 liters."

"The price seems to have even dropped. But there is simply no gasoline in the city. My husband visited three gas stations here (in the Central district) today - he didn't want to stand in line. At work, he was sent to the Voroshilovsky district. There he managed to refuel with 95, it seems, on Novo-Uzensky Street. In general, it took three hours of his working time to refuel today... We can't refuel with 92 because its quality has noticeably dropped; we are saving the engine. And 95 is practically not available in the city. Only diesel and 92," the woman lamented.

Olga talked about cutting the family budget due to high prices for food and fuel. "We travel by public transport. Our car is parked in the garage. My husband only occasionally drives it for work, as the accounting department reimburses him for fuel costs," she said.

The woman suggested that gasoline ran out at the gas stations in the city due to the upcoming "Knowledge Day." However, she could not answer the journalist's question about what connection there might be between these events.

Dmitry, who lives in the Krasnoarmeysky district of the regional center, also reported a deterioration in the fuel situation. "In the morning, queues formed. Huge queues. And by the evening, gasoline ran out at all gas stations in the Kirovsky and Krasnoarmeysky districts. A neighbor said he managed to refuel with 92 only on Grekmyachinskaya Street at the gas station. There is no gasoline anywhere, and in some places, they sell diesel," he said.

Answering the question about the peculiarity of today's gasoline situation, Dmitry replied: "It (gasoline) periodically appears at different gas stations. A queue forms there. Gasoline runs out, and it is delivered to another gas station - people go there. It goes in circles. A hellishly tense situation is developing," the interlocutor exclaimed.

Politician Ilya Kravchenko reported that his acquaintance stood in line for an hour and a half at a gas station in the Voroshilovsky district on the afternoon of August 31. "The queues at gas stations today are special," noted Ilya.

47-year-old resident of the district center Ilovlya Zhanna Kurilkova and her husband have been engaged in the transportation of agricultural products since 2025. The woman reported that there was no gasoline at the gas stations in Ilovlya. "Only at the exit, on the federal highway (Caspian) near "Tara," 95 was sold. I don't know if it is available now. People are afraid to refuel with 92. They say the quality has sharply deteriorated. It seems they are "diluting" it... There was diesel fuel at two gas stations," the woman noted.

Everyone rushed to refuel because many take their children to school in their cars.

Kurilkova suggested that gasoline in Volgograd and in their area ran out due to a new rush associated with the start of the school year. Volgograd historian Andrey Kudинов reported that on the evening of August 31, gasoline ran out at all gas stations on the University Avenue and Lazorevaya in the Voroshilovsky and Kirovsky districts of Volgograd. "There is no gasoline in the northern districts of the city either. Long-haul truck drivers reported that fuel is available without long queues on the Saratov (Samara) highway before entering Olenye. But that is more than a hundred kilometers from Volgograd. The queues there were small - about 30 cars. There was gasoline - both 92 and 95," Andrey said.

Kudинов reported that he is saving on fuel. Since his employer stopped reimbursing fuel costs, Andrey no longer drives his car for "work-related issues." "The car is parked. I haven't used it for a week. We travel by public transport," he said, noting that the fare for public transport remains at the same level for now.

The historian also believes that the rush that began on Sunday, August 30, may be related to the upcoming start of the school year. "Knowledge Day played its role. Well, and the fact that prices seemed to have dropped (for gasoline), which immediately led to an increase in demand. And no limits had any effect here. Here is the result - the city is out of gasoline by the end of this day," Andrey exclaimed.
