Residents of Izberbash and more than two dozen villages have been without light since night.
Lightning struck a substation in Izberbash, leaving more than 30 thousand people in the city and villages without electricity.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", residents of Dagestan regularly complain about power outages. For instance, on August 14, residents of Irchi Kazaka Street in Makhachkala went out into the street for the third time in a week due to prolonged power outages. Mass power outages in Makhachkala deprived residents of the ability to work and use communication, and entrepreneurs' products were spoiled. Residents demanded that the authorities solve the problem of regular power outages.
More than 50% of power lines in Dagestan are in emergency condition, said the acting head of the republic, Fyodor Shchukin, whose words were published on August 18 by the Telegram channel of the head of Dagestan.
In Izberbash, the substation "Izberg-Southern" caught fire due to a lightning strike: restoration work is underway.
On August 29, in the evening, equipment caught fire at the 110 kV "Izberg-Southern" substation. The incident led to a disruption of electricity supply to part of the city's consumers. As a result of the technological failure, the power transformer and distribution equipment were disabled. Emergency recovery teams from the central electric networks production unit (PU CEN) are working. Energy workers are dismantling damaged equipment, checking adjacent nodes, and preparing to install new transformer equipment.
According to preliminary data, all restoration work is planned to be completed by midnight on August 30, reported the Telegram channel "Izberbash HPP".
About 33 thousand people in 24 settlements of Dagestan, including Izberbash, were left without electricity due to the accident, TASS reported, citing the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for Dagestan.
"In 3 districts, 24 settlements, and partially in the city of Izberbash, an emergency power outage has been registered. A total of 24 settlements in three districts (Uncukulsky, Khunzakhsky, Tsumadinsky districts) with a population of 32,904 people were affected by the power outage," the message says.
