The paraglider died in a mountain gorge in Kabardino-Balkaria
Rescuers conducted an operation to evacuate the body of a paraglider from the Sverdlovsk region, who died during a flight in a mountain gorge in the territory of the Cherek district.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in April 2025, a paraglider from Perm, who was part of an unregistered group, died in the Chigem gorge after crashing into the rocks.
A parachute stuck in a tree is visible on the slope in the Cherek gorge, reported "Interfax" citing the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kabardino-Balkaria.
Arriving at the scene, rescuers established that a 69-year-old paraglider from the Sverdlovsk region had sustained fatal injuries. Rescuers handed over the body of the deceased to the investigative operational group of law enforcement agencies.
Sixteen employees of the Kabardino-Balkarian fire and rescue service were involved in the search and evacuation work.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on April 25, a paraglider sustained injuries to his leg and arm during a hard landing in the Chigem district, and in early September 2025, a Belarusian paraglider was injured in the leg as a result of a hard landing in the upper reaches of the Chigem gorge and asked for help from rescuers.
