Robert Kocharyan recently underwent medical intervention, so the doctor deemed it necessary to conduct additional medical examinations after the hospitalization of the former president of Armenia. The Anti-Corruption Committee stated that Kocharyan would be brought to court after the examinations, where the investigation intends to petition for his arrest.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 25, former Armenian president Robert Kocharyan and his son Sedrak were detained. After the detention, Robert Kocharyan felt unwell and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

The head of the office of the second president of Armenia, Bagrat Mikoyan, reported that Robert Kocharyan recently underwent medical intervention. "Currently, the doctor, based on this fact, saw the necessity for additional examinations," the publication Yerevan.Today, which is associated with Robert Kocharyan, quoted Mikoyan.

The Anti-Corruption Committee of Armenia stated that the petition for Kocharyan's arrest would be presented to the court after he undergoes medical examinations. "The detained former president R.K. will be brought to court after undergoing the necessary medical examinations," the committee stated, as reported by News.am.

Information that Kocharyan would be brought to court after the necessary medical examinations was also published in the evening of August 25 by the publication "Aikakan Zhamanak," which was founded in 1999 by Nikol Pashinyan – he was the editor-in-chief of this publication until 2012.

Currently, the editor-in-chief of "Aikakan Zhamanak" is Nikol Pashinyan's wife, Anna Akopyan, and 70% of the owning company belongs to her mother, according to data from Media Ownership Monitor Armenia.

On June 14, law enforcement did not allow Kocharyan to fly out of Armenia, although the reasons for the ban were not named at that time. On June 16, the Prosecutor General's Office requested the CEC to allow criminal prosecution of the second president of Armenia, as his status as a candidate in the parliamentary elections provided him with immunity. On June 17, the CEC satisfied this petition.

Recall that in Armenia, in the parliamentary elections on June 7, the party of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, "Civil Contract," won, which, according to the final data from the CEC, received 49.8% of the votes. The "Strong Armenia" bloc received 23.3%, while the bloc "Armenia," led by Robert Kocharyan, received 9.9%. These three political forces entered parliament.

After the elections, Kocharyan announced his intention to contest the results. As a result, seven political forces appealed to the Constitutional Court, demanding to annul the decision of the Central Election Commission, conduct a repeat vote, or change the distribution of mandates. The opposition forces cited violations during the elections.
