Dalgatov's mother complained about the ban on the lawyer submitting motions.

The lawyer for the family of Kurban Dalgatov is prohibited from submitting motions until the indictment is fully announced, which has already taken three sessions since the resumption of the trial in Makhachkala, complained the mother of the deceased.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on July 9, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala began anew to consider the case of Kurban Dalgatov's death. Most of the defendants opposed the online broadcasting of the sessions, although the motion was supported by the victims' side.

On January 20, 2023, before the detention of 35-year-old Kurban Dalgatov, a conflict occurred on the street between two men. One of them, according to the police, shot at his opponent and escaped with Dalgatov's help. Kurban Dalgatov was found and detained. In the police department, his health deteriorated, he was given first aid and taken to the hospital, but the doctors confirmed his death. Relatives stated that Dalgatov died from asphyxiation, which occurred after he "was electrocuted in the heart area." The man sustained injuries before his death, the Ministry of Internal Affairs confirmed.

After a break caused by a change of judge in April, the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala resumed consideration of the case regarding the death of wrestling coach Kurban Dalgatov after his detention in January 2023 by officers of the Soviet District Police Department of Makhachkala and the torture of two of his friends – Islam Khyasov and Bulat Ataev, Raissa Dalgatova, Kurban Dalgatov's mother, reported to the correspondent of "Caucasian Knot."

"Three sessions have already passed, but they were all dedicated to the announcement of the indictment. And until the prosecutor finishes announcing it, the lawyer representing our interests is prohibited from submitting any motions," she said.

The position of the defendants has not changed. "None of them plead guilty," Dalgatova emphasized.

"Caucasian Knot" currently has no comment from the Soviet District Court of Makhachkala.

Recall that on July 5, 2024, 11 employees of the Soviet District Police Department of Makhachkala, accused of torturing Dalgatov, appeared before the court; the cases of two other police officers who entered into pre-trial agreements were separated into a separate proceeding. On October 3, 2025, the court completed the examination of the prosecution's evidence, after which the defense began to present its evidence.
