A native of Dagestan has been sentenced to a long term for preparing a terrorist act in Stavropol.

The Southern District Military Court in Rostov-on-Don sentenced Stavropol resident Nariman Dzhaparov to 17 years in prison for preparing a terrorist act and treason.

According to the court and investigation, in January-February 2025, Dzhaparov photographed, filmed, and determined the geographical coordinates of the buildings of the FSB of Russia for the Stavropol Territory, the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the region, the military commissariat of the territory, military units, as well as a branch of the Krasnodar University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and other facilities.

In addition, Dzhaparov monitored the "Eternal Glory" memorial in Stavropol, identifying possible locations for the installation of an improvised explosive device. He transmitted the collected information to a member of a terrorist organization, reports Interfax, citing the Southern District Military Court.

"It has been established that in January 2025, the defendant, while in Stavropol, corresponded with a person who was a member of the Ukrainian paramilitary nationalist association 'Azov' (recognized as a terrorist organization and banned in the Russian Federation). During the correspondence, Dzhaparov expressed his voluntary consent to act in the interests of the organization," the court's message states.

From February 17 to 19, 2025, Dzhaparov purchased consumables, components, and substances necessary for making explosives in various stores in Stavropol. On February 20, he retrieved an improvised explosive device that had been placed in a hiding place by another member of the organized group, after which he was detained.

Dzhaparov was found guilty of participating in a terrorist community , treason , and three other criminal charges, and was sentenced to 17 years in prison, with the first four years to be served in prison and a fine of 600,000 rubles. The convicted person will serve his sentence in a strict regime correctional colony.

Nariman Dzhaparov is 26 years old, he was born in Derbent, according to the record in the register of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring. According to a bot that tracks updates in this list, Dzhaparov's data with a note of involvement in terrorism was added there on May 21, 2026.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the Stavropol Regional Court found a 34-year-old Russian citizen guilty of treason and sentenced him to 18 years in prison.
