Satellite images showed the continuation of fuel oil leaks from the sunken tankers near Anapa.
In August, satellite data showed the continuation of oil product leaks from the sunken tankers "Volgoneft" in the Kerch Strait.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", oil product leaks have resumed from the sunken bow section of the tanker "Volgoneft-239" in the Kerch Strait, according to satellite images. The leak may be related to the increase in water temperature and the work on pumping fuel oil from the tankers. Against the backdrop of reports about the opening of beaches, there is silence regarding the work on pumping fuel oil from the sunken tankers, users pointed out. Neither the operational headquarters of Kuban nor the government commission for eliminating the consequences of the emergency provides information on the progress of the pumping work. At the end of July, satellites recorded an oil slick near the tanker "Volgoneft-239", as well as a leak from the stern of the tanker "Volgoneft-212".
The resort season in Anapa opened against a sharp contrast in the state of the coastline. Some beaches are open and deemed safe, while other areas are closed due to erosion, unstable ground, and environmental risks. Information about which beaches are ready for visitors and which pose dangers is provided in the report "Caucasian Knot" "Beaches of Anapa: open and dangerous zones".
Satellite imagery from Planet in August 2026 records the continuation of oil product leaks from the sunken tankers "Volgoneft" in the Kerch Strait, writes the SkyEye project.
The illustration shows the sunken stern of "Volgoneft-212" (1), the bow of "Volgoneft-239" (2), and the bow of "Volgoneft-212" (3).
In the images from August 10-17, 2026, it can be seen that oil products are spreading in the western and southwestern directions from the stern of "VN-212" and the bow of "VN-239", the publication states.
