The condition of pedestrian infrastructure in Krasnodar has given rise to criticism of officials.

The sidewalks in the residential area of Novoznamenksy in Krasnodar have overgrown with grass, and there are no trees along the pedestrian zones, a local resident complained on Telegram. Other city residents, commenting on her complaint, criticized the quality of landscaping and pointed out the lack of comfortable conditions for pedestrians.

In a video, a resident of the Novoznamenksy residential area in Krasnodar complained that the sidewalks on Georgy Zhukov Street are overgrown with ragweed, which is breaking through the tiles, and numerous appeals to the Unified Dispatch Service have yielded no results. The footage shows a sidewalk overgrown with grass on both sides.

The video was published on August 16 by the Telegram channel "Typodar Krasnodar," which has about 56,000 subscribers. As of 08:55 MSK on August 17, this video had garnered about 5,400 views and nine comments.

Commenters criticized the quality of landscaping and maintenance of urban areas. "But in the center, on Pushkin and Soviet streets, a few days ago, mowers were working. Since there is hardly any grass there, they really tried to find something to mow. But mostly, they just stir up dust," wrote Sergey Kobzarev.

"The same situation with mechanical street sweeping: a machine just drives down the road, and payment is based on GPS tracking plus engine hours; no one really assesses whether the street has become cleaner," noted a moderator of the public group in the comments to the post.

"If there are any bottles or other trash lying around, they carefully avoid them so as not to damage them during the 'mowing.' So it just sits there happily in the dust," pointed out Sergey Kobzarev. "I often catch myself thinking that when the city hall does nothing, it’s sometimes better than when they do something," he concluded.

Other users pointed out the lack of trees and shade along the pedestrian zones. "And zero trees and shade," wrote Irina Rudneva. "Okay, grass, but where are the trees? This is Krasnodar! Miles of sidewalks under the scorching sun," exclaimed Nadezhda.

"This is called landscaping the Krasnodar way," Sergey Kobzarev sarcastically remarked in another comment.

As of 08:55 MSK on August 17, there are no comments on the Krasnodar administration's website regarding the residents' complaints about the state of pedestrian infrastructure.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that Krasnodar residents have repeatedly complained about the state of urban infrastructure and the landscaping of public spaces. For instance, on October 16, 2024, residents of the Rossiyansky settlement complained about the condition of the dirt road on Lapeyruz Street, which they had been requesting to be paved for several years. On September 30 of the same year, residents of the Yubileyny microdistrict opposed the construction in the green zone on the Christmas embankment and demanded to preserve it as a public space.
