The number of killed fighters from the southern regions of Russia in Ukraine has exceeded 9600.

At least 4773 fighters from the regions of the North Caucasus Federal District and 4832 fighters from the regions of the Southern Federal District have been officially recognized as killed during the special military operation in Ukraine.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", as of August 5, authorities and representatives of law enforcement agencies have officially recognized at least 9550 military personnel killed during the special military operation (SMO) in Ukraine from the North Caucasus Federal District (NCFD) and the Southern Federal District (SFD). The highest number of military casualties was from Dagestan.
Since the beginning of the SMO in Ukraine, at least 9600 fighters from the southern regions of Russia and the republics of the North Caucasus have been officially recognized as killed.
According to the latest official data, at least 4773 fighters from the North Caucasus Federal District have been killed during the special military operation. The highest number of casualties among natives of the NCFD still comes from Dagestan – 2071 fighters. The deaths of 971 military personnel from the Stavropol Krai, 589 from North Ossetia, 466 from Kabardino-Balkaria , 265 from Chechnya , 209 from Ingushetia, and 202 from Karachay-Cherkessia have been confirmed.
In the Southern Federal District, 4832 military personnel have been officially recognized as killed during the special operation. The highest number of casualties is from the Volgograd region – 1827. The deaths of 971 military personnel from the Rostov region, 883 from the Krasnodar Krai, 758 from the Astrakhan region, 252 from Kalmykia, and 141 from Adygea have also been confirmed.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the real losses among military personnel from the North Caucasus may significantly exceed the official figures. This applies to all regions of the NCFD, but is especially relevant for Chechnya. In February 2023, Ramzan Kadyrov called on regional leaders to not disclose the numbers of the dead.
Let us recall that the first official representative to report that a Russian military personnel was killed in the SMO zone was the former head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov. On February 26, 2022, he reported that officer Nurmagomed Gadzhimagomedov was killed in Ukraine.
