The prosecution requested to sentence former Vice-Governor of Krasnodar Krai Alexander Nesterenko to nine years in a penal colony. The prosecution also demands to lift his house arrest and take the former official into custody after the verdict is announced.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in mid-May, the Lenin District Court of Krasnodar denied the defense of former Vice-Governor of Kuban Alexander Nesterenko release from house arrest under a travel ban.
Alexander Nesterenko was arrested in May 2025. The day before, he was dismissed due to "lack of results" in the construction sector. In June, the court placed him under house arrest. In early May 2026, his case was submitted for court consideration. Previously, the official was accused of abuse of power, later the investigation reclassified the charge to three episodes of exceeding official authority during the major repairs of schools in the Kherson region. In court, he stated that he did not cause material damage.
The supervisory authority considers Nesterenko's guilt in exceeding official authority when signing acts of completed work at facilities in the Kherson region to be proven. The damage to the budget from the three episodes is estimated at 146.7 million rubles, reports "RBK Kuban" today.
The events of the criminal case relate to the period when Alexander Nesterenko headed the Main Department of Construction of Krasnodar Krai, which acted as the customer for the repair work of three schools in the Kherson region. According to the investigation, in December 2023, the head of the institution signed acts of acceptance of work, based on which payment was made to the contractor. However, the repair work in the schools had not been completed at that time and continued for several more months, informs "Kommersant".
Alexander Nesterenko did not admit guilt. According to the official, he signed not final, but intermediate documents indicating the percentage of the budget spent.
The former vice-governor claims that he did not hide the situation at the construction sites in the Kherson region from the regional leadership. Reporting documents at the end of 2023 were necessary to ensure guaranteed funding for the project in the following year.
The prosecution requested to sentence Nesterenko to nine years in a general regime colony and take him into custody immediately after the verdict.
"Caucasian Knot" also reported that the court notified about the disappearance of former Vice-Governor of Krasnodar Krai Sergey Vlasov in the SVO zone, who was sentenced in December 2025 to 11 years for receiving a bribe.
