Law enforcement in Gelendzhik caught a migrant discrediting Russian military personnel.

A migrant from South Asia was detained in Gelendzhik due to a comment in which law enforcement saw discrediting of the Russian army.

Responsibility for discrediting the armed forces was introduced on March 4, 2022, since then residents of Russia, including those from the North Caucasus and Southern Federal District, have been prosecuted under the relevant article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. It provides for fines for citizens ranging from 30,000 to 100,000 rubles, and repeated violations within a year threaten criminal prosecution.

The detention of the 23-year-old foreigner in Gelendzhik involved police and officers from the regional FSB. The detained individual works in Gelendzhik, clarified the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnodar Territory.

The reason for the prosecution of the South Asian migrant was his comment on a social network, published in open access. An administrative protocol was drawn up against him under the article on public discrediting of the armed forces of the Russian Federation (20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation), and the materials were sent to court, according to a statement on the agency's website.

The foreigner faces an administrative fine ranging from 30,000 to 50,000 rubles.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that in July, several residents of Kabardino-Balkaria were fined under the article on discrediting the army. Thus, a court in the Chegem district fined local resident Musa Kuchmenov, acknowledging that the video he published online discredited the military. Later, in Nalchik, for similar reasons, Azmat Balkizov was fined.
