Makhachkala residents were not satisfied with the explanations for the power outages.
Residents of the Makhachkala neighborhood "New City" gathered today on Kammaeva Street, demanding electricity. The authorities soon reported the resumption of electricity supply, explaining the outages were due to an accident. Outages occur every evening, and after residents' protests, they are trying to attribute them to an accident, commentators were outraged.
As reported by "Caucasian Knot", in apartment buildings in Makhachkala, the electricity has been turned off for several hours daily for a month, forcing people to protest, but the situation with regular power outages in the city remains unresolved.
On July 26, residents of Makhachkala faced prolonged power outages again. The Makhachkala administration asked citizens not to use powerful electrical appliances due to overloaded power grids, which irritated the residents. In the evening of August 6, residents of houses on Kadyrov Street blocked the road due to prolonged outages; after the protest, the electricity supply to their homes was restored. However, the next day, August 7, it became clear that about eight thousand residents of Makhachkala remained without electricity.
Residents of nearby houses gathered on Kammaeva Street due to the lack of power supply in the New City neighborhood, reported the Makhachkala administration. "It is expected that the power supply will be restored soon," the authorities promised.
"In Makhachkala, on Kammaeva Street and other streets of First Makhachkala, the electricity is turned off almost every day. For the second month now. From 1 PM to 8 PM. And sometimes even until midnight. Right now, we are sitting without electricity. Why can't they solve the electricity problem yet, and how long can this last? What are the organizations responsible for this doing?" - local residents' appeal was published today by "Chernovik".
Already at 11:17 PM Moscow time, the city authorities reported that the electricity supply had been restored.
"The power supply in the New City neighborhood has been restored. This was reported by the head of the Internal Policy Department of the Makhachkala Administration, Kurban Kadyrov. It should be noted that according to the resource supplying organization, the power outage occurred due to an accident," the authorities write.
A message in the Telegram channel of the Makhachkala administration about the resumption of electricity supply gathered 4 comments.
Commentators were outraged that the authorities explain the outage as an accident.
"It was turned off every day, what accident?" noted Nurav_Travel.
"They are deceiving people. They are throwing dust in our eyes. Instead of fixing the electricity, they are posting in Telegram that everything is fine," believes Karburetor.
"Year after year, the same story," agreed the first commentator.
"Why deceive people??? There was no accident! You turn it off every day from noon to evening or midnight! No light, no water, no internet! How am I supposed to work with such chaos?" - Muhammad was outraged.
Residents of Makhachkala regularly complain about problems with electricity and water supply. At the end of July 2025, Makhachkala residents complained about prolonged power outages lasting several days. Officials explained the power interruptions by repair work and abnormal heat.
In August 2025, residents of the Reducer settlement held a spontaneous street protest due to the lack of electricity in their homes. After that, the city administration reported that the power supply to most homes had been restored. In the summer of 2024, residents of the settlement also held a spontaneous protest due to power outages.
