Social media users doubted a quick drop in gasoline prices in Kabardino-Balkaria.

One of the residents of Kabardino-Balkaria asked on social media when the price of fuel would decrease. Other local residents, commenting on his question, doubted a quick drop in prices and pointed to the lower cost of fuel in neighboring regions.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on August 6, drivers from Kabardino-Balkaria said that high fuel prices hit family budgets and small businesses. At private gas stations, AI-92 cost 110–115 rubles per liter, AI-95 – 125–130 rubles, while network gas stations experienced interruptions in fuel sales.

One of the residents of Kabardino-Balkaria asked how long fuel prices would remain high. He redirected his question to the authorities through the Instagram*-public goloskbr.

"Can I find out through you when fuel prices will drop in our republic?" – asked the resident of Kabardino-Balkaria.

This post in the Instagram*-public goloskbr, which has about 190 thousand users, had gained 400 likes and 186 comments by 11:50 Moscow time on August 12.

Many commentators doubted that fuel prices in the republic would decrease. "How naive you are. What goes up here never goes down," wrote 07vatutina_viktoriy. "It seems like never, our leadership doesn't need it!" – believes olga_dmitrievna_64. "It seems like never," – wrote b___e_____a.

Users compared fuel prices in Kabardino-Balkaria with prices in neighboring regions. "Yesterday we passed through Chechnya. At all gas stations along the way, the price of fuel was absolutely the same: 92nd – 104 rubles, somewhere cheaper. Gas – 39 rubles, at some even 38.5," wrote liana_nails_shugar. "Vladikavkaz and Ingushetia: prices below 100 rubles for the 95th," reported okcuk. "In the Stavropol region and neighboring Vladikavkaz, gas is 33–35, while we have a stable 42," noted greenninho.

Other commentators also mentioned lower prices in the Stavropol region. "In Pyatigorsk, prices have already dropped, and there are no queues. Why is this not controlled in our republic?" – asked kymikova_lena.

Some users reported that residents of Kabardino-Balkaria travel to neighboring regions for cheaper fuel. "The Tersky district borders North Ossetia, and almost all Tersians refuel in Ossetia," wrote germanhatkov07. "Our residents go to the Stavropol region and North Ossetia for gasoline," noted besh_tau_el.

Commentators also complained about interruptions in gasoline sales at network gas stations. "For three days we couldn't refuel at 'Rosneft' in Baksan, had to refuel at a private gas station out of necessity, and it was very expensive," wrote ap.ellena. "The same prices as in other regions. And what's the point that 'Lukoil' or 'Rosneft' work for 1.5 hours? The same prices at independent gas stations," noted tttop070.

Some users called for increased control over fuel prices. "Is there anyone in the republic to control this?" – asked vladlena.84. "When will the FAS start working, when will this lawlessness with fuel stop, why is there no control in the republic? People are tired of rising prices for everything!" – wrote iv_anova1571. "We have no one who can control this," noted azret46207.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that on July 28, residents of Kabardino-Balkaria complained about high prices, queues, and interruptions in gas station operations. The price of gasoline at some gas stations reached 135–150 rubles per liter. Commentators then also asked when prices would start to decrease, compared them with fuel prices in neighboring regions, and demanded increased control over prices.

As of 11:50 Moscow time on August 12, there are no comments on the website of the Ministry of Energy of Kabardino-Balkaria regarding local residents' complaints about high gasoline prices.
