Satellite images recorded pollution in the area of the port of Taman.

Pollution of the Black Sea has been recorded near Taman, a project analyzing satellite images suggested that it may be an oil slick or clumps of vegetable oil.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", as a result of debris falling and a fire at one of the enterprises in the village of Volna in the Temryuk district, six people were injured, the operational headquarters of the Krasnodar region reported on August 3. A smoke plume from the port of "Taman" is visible on satellite images, extending over 200 kilometers. A large spot is recorded in the coastal zone, which stretches from the docks to the middle of the Bugaz Spit.

Satellite images from Planet taken on August 6, 2026, at 11:30 Moscow time, recorded surface pollution of the Black Sea in the area of the Kerch Strait. From the port of Taman, in the west and southwest directions, up to 13 km away, a film is visible that may correspond to petroleum products or vegetable oils, writes the project "Transparent World".

Also, the images show brownish-red elongated thread-like "flakes" spreading from the port's water area towards the Crimean Peninsula. In enlarged fragments, their spread is visible both near the port and on the periphery of the pollution, closer to Crimea. According to experts, these "flakes" may represent clumps of vegetable oil, the report from August 8 states.
