The court has arrested Argam Abramyan for two months.

The son-in-law of the leader of "Prosperous Armenia" Gagik Tsarukyan, Argam Abramyan, has been arrested for two months in a contract murder case. The Ombudsman of Armenia deemed the dissemination of information about the suspect's personal life unacceptable.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", law enforcement officials detained former parliament member Argam Abramyan - the son of ex-Prime Minister Ovik Abramyan and the son-in-law of the leader of "Prosperous Armenia" Gagik Tsarukyan. Abramyan is suspected of organizing a murder.

Businessman and leader of the opposition party "Prosperous Armenia" Gagik Tsarukyan has been suspected of tax evasion related to the "Ararat" brandy factory. The defense called the case absurd, as Tsarukyan has transferred all his businesses to management since 2003, when he was elected to the National Assembly. On August 6, a new charge was brought against Tsarukyan under articles on extortion and legalization of property obtained by criminal means. On July 7, the court arrested billionaire Gagik Tsarukyan for two months, accused of fraud and tax evasion.

The court has chosen a preventive measure in the form of arrest for a period of two months against former parliament member of Armenia Argam Abramyan, reported Armenia Today.

The human rights defender deemed the unjustified disclosure of information regarding a person's personal and family life in the context of public communication on criminal proceedings unacceptable, writes News.Am.

"It is unclear what lawful purpose, as provided by law, is pursued by the disclosure of the specified data and why it is necessary for informing the public about the proceedings," the statement released by the Ombudsman's office says.

The day before, the Investigative Committee reported that Abramyan suspected his wife of having personal relations with a spiritual pastor - a member of the religious organization "Christians of the Faith of the Gospel", as well as of transferring large sums of money to him. According to the investigation, out of revenge, Abramyan decided to take his life and did so with the help of a security service employee.
