The publication on social media resulted in a fine for a resident of Kabardino-Balkaria.

The court in the Urvansky district fined local resident Islam Zhanov, recognizing that the post he published on social media discredited the army.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on March 4, 2022, responsibility for discrediting the armed forces was introduced, since then residents of Russia, including Kabardino-Balkaria, have been prosecuted under the relevant article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation. It provides for a fine of up to 100,000 rubles for citizens, and repeated violations within a year threaten criminal prosecution.

According to the case materials, on March 18, 2022, resident of the Urvansky district Islam Zhanov published a post in the "Positive Nalchik" community on Instagram* that was deemed by the authorities as aimed at discrediting the army.

The Urvansky district court found Zhanov guilty of discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation and fined him 30,000 rubles, as indicated in the case card published on the court's website.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that earlier the court fined resident of the Cherek district Kazbek Kazakov, recognizing that the video he published on the social network "VKontakte" discredited the army.
