The FSB reported the prevention of a terrorist attack in Pyatigorsk.

Law enforcement reported the detention of a person from Central Asia who planned to blow up the prosecutor's office building in Pyatigorsk and then travel to Syria to join the militants.

According to the FSB, a person from one of the Central Asian countries, born in 2001, planned to carry out a remote detonation of the prosecutor's office building in Pyatigorsk. The suspect is a supporter of a terrorist organization banned in Russia and acted on the instructions of a curator located in Syria.

"For these purposes, he conducted reconnaissance of the area, acquired components necessary for making an explosive device. After carrying out the terrorist act, he planned to travel to Syria and join the ranks of the terrorist organization," - reported the FSB today, as cited by RIA "Novosti."

Law enforcement detained the suspect, and during the search, components for making a homemade bomb were seized from him, including chemical substances and shrapnel. The FSB's office in the Stavropol region has opened a criminal case for preparing a terrorist act, the statement said.
