A resident of St. Petersburg, who visited the Aydyr-Su gorge, drowned in a mountain river; her body was found a week later in the Bakasan River.
Rescuers discovered on August 1 in the Bakasan River the body of a resident of St. Petersburg, who went missing on July 25 in the Aydyr-Su gorge.
According to the investigation, the 65-year-old woman went to the Aydyr-Su gorge as part of a tourist group. She went for a walk along the bank of the mountain river alone and disappeared, reports "Interfax".
The search operation was conducted by specialists from the Elbrus high-altitude team daily since July 25. A preliminary investigation is underway, and a forensic examination has been appointed, informs RBC.
Earlier, "Caucasian Knot" reported that in May, two tourists got stuck on the slope of Elbrus; they were evacuated by rescuers.
