In two months of the new department's work against "hate speech," about 300 administrative cases related to critical comments directed at the current authorities of Georgia have been sent to court.

The grounds for initiating cases included sharp statuses on social media, public comments, and obscene inscriptions on posters used by protesters. The cases mainly concern the activities of civil activists, journalists, and public figures who criticize the ruling party "Georgian Dream".
The head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia, Sulkhan Tamazashvili, stated that the department operates within the framework of "successful reforms in the field of rights protection," and suppressing insults is one of the state's priorities.
