The family of a resident of Vladikavkaz with a disability reports pressure from the investigation.

Zarina Tomaeva, accused of creating a financial pyramid, is not being released under house arrest without a confession of guilt, and she is also not allowed to see doctors despite her disability. Her relatives believe the case is fabricated. The victims also hope for Tomaeva's release, believing that she will be able to return their funds.

Zarina Tomaeva, accused of fraud, was not released from the Vladikavkaz pre-trial detention center under house arrest. The court recognized violations in the consideration of her case, but at the new hearing, they refused to change the measure of restraint, reports Mash Gor.

27-year-old Zarina is a mortgage broker. She is accused of fraud, but the investigation intends to add a charge for organizing a criminal community. According to Zarina's lawyer, Alexey Abazov, she has serious health problems, including congenital scoliosis and heart disease. Abazov claims that Zarina is not receiving the necessary medical assistance in the detention center and needs to go to the hospital. According to relatives, the girl is also humiliated — she was forced to undress publicly.

The story of Tomaeva was published a few days ago by journalist Ksenia Sobchak on her Telegram channel.

She was detained in September 2025 — first for fraud, later the investigation accused her of creating a financial pyramid, said the girl's mother Irina to Ostorozhno Media.

The family believes the criminal case is fabricated. Initially, the damage was said to be 600,000 rubles, and they immediately offered to reimburse this amount, but the victim's side did not accept the money. After that, according to the mother, former clients of Zarina were convinced to write statements, otherwise they faced criminal prosecution.

Relatives report that in the first facility where Zarina was held after her arrest, she was kept in a cold basement, searched with video recording in the toilet, and after fainting, was threatened with physical harm. After complaints from relatives, the girl was transferred to another facility.

Tomaeva has been disabled since childhood. Due to congenital idiopathic scoliosis, she had a titanium structure installed in her spine at the age of 13. She needs to undergo regular examinations. Currently, Zarina cannot sit due to severe pain, has dental problems, and hardly goes out for walks. The investigation does not allow her parents and doctors to see her, even at their own expense. At the same time, the family has repeatedly requested to transfer Tomaeva to house arrest, but investigators state that this is only possible after a confession of guilt, according to the report.

An appeal to the authorities turned into a check by the ombudsman

Sobchak appealed to the head of North Ossetia.

"I ask the head of the republic, Sergey Menyaylo, to pay attention to this story and investigate the situation," the journalist emphasized.

As of 15:37 Moscow time, Menyaylo had not commented on Tomaeva's arrest in his Telegram channel.

Necessary medical measures are being taken in the facility. The issue is under control.

Ombudsman for Human Rights in North Ossetia, Arthur Kokaev, visited Tomaeva in the Vladikavkaz pre-trial detention center after the story became public. He checked the conditions of Zarina Tomaeva's detention, the organization of medical assistance and living conditions, as well as the quality of food, reported "Sapa" on July 18.

Kokaev assured that "necessary medical measures are being taken". "A conversation was held with a medical worker about Zarina T.'s health condition. Necessary medical measures are being taken in the facility. The issue is under control," the ombudsman stated.

Sources reported multi-million damage

Ossetian Telegram channels present the version of the investigation.

According to the investigation, a resident of North Ossetia organized a financial pyramid, offering investments with high returns — up to 10% per month. At the initial stage, participants did receive payments, which contributed to the rapid growth of the number of investors. Among the participants were also well-known and wealthy residents of the republic — wives, sisters, and other relatives of current and former officials, as well as well-known entrepreneurs, writes "Ossetia Prosto".

The criminal case includes more than 850 episodes. According to preliminary data, the total amount of money involved in the scheme could reach several billion rubles.

Many participants took out loans, mortgaged apartments, cars, land plots, and commercial real estate to invest in the project. Some formed groups for joint participation. Currently, according to available information, several hundred pledges related to participants of the alleged financial pyramid are in Sberbank and VTB, according to a publication from May 23.

They hope that in this case she will have the opportunity to find funds and return money to investors.

The Telegram channel "Ossetia-ae" commented on the campaign demanding to release the girl under house arrest.

"Many of those who, according to the investigation, suffered from the activities of the financial pyramid, are also interested in the accused being released. They hope that in this case she will have the opportunity to find funds and return money to investors," the message from July 18 states.

"Caucasian Knot" also reported that at least 65 residents of North Ossetia suffered from the actions of the chairman of the consumer credit cooperative "Sberkassa Alania", who collected 57.5 million rubles from them and appropriated it. The court sentenced the former chairman of the cooperative, Aslanbek Gugkaev, to 7 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony. The court also satisfied the claims of the victims for damages.

Residents of North Ossetia also participated in the Smart Buyers network, which collected hundreds of millions of rubles from residents of Kabardino-Balkaria; 14 statements from investors were received in North Ossetia. The chances of the victims recovering even part of their invested money are extremely low, lawyers interviewed by "Caucasian Knot" stated.
