The Krasnodar city hall's announcement of fines for storing gasoline in garages caused irony on social media.

The authorities of Krasnodar announced fines of up to 20,000 rubles for individuals for storing gasoline and diesel fuel in garages during a special fire safety regime. Commentators on Telegram responded by calling on the authorities to ban cars as well.

As reported by "Caucasian Knot", on the morning of July 17, AI-95 was available at only 40 gas stations, while at 63 stations at least one type of fuel was available. Three days earlier, the authorities reported 70 open gas stations. The stations where the price per liter is 189 rubles are, meanwhile, empty.

The authorities warned about fines

Since July 7, 2026, a special fire safety regime has been in effect in Krasnodar according to the administration decree No. 4384. "During this period, it is strictly forbidden to light fires, burn garbage, and use open flames. Special attention is given to the storage of fuels and lubricants in garages! It is prohibited to store gasoline, diesel fuel, and oils in garages, parking lots, and under awnings. The only exception is garages on garden plots, but even there ventilation and safety measures must be observed," the Municipal Management Center of Krasnodar reported today.

"Fuel vapors are heavier than air and accumulate at the bottom in poor ventilation. One spark from a switch or tool can lead to an explosion or instant ignition," the message states.

The authorities warned about fines. Responsibility under Article 20.4 of the Administrative Offenses Code of the Russian Federation in special conditions has been tightened: — citizens: up to 20,000 ₽ (in normal times — up to 15,000 ₽); officials: up to 60,000 ₽; legal entities: up to 800,000 ₽, the Municipal Management Center reported on its Telegram channel.

There are 75 gas stations operating in the city

At a number of gas stations in Krasnodar, "by the owners' decision," fuel continues to be dispensed only into tanks, the Municipal Management Center reported today. As of this morning, 75 gas stations were operating in the city.

Available: AI-92 — at 59 gas stations, AI-95 — at 54 gas stations, AI-100 — at 14 gas stations, diesel — at 65 gas stations.

Another 28 gas stations are temporarily not dispensing fuel, and 11 facilities are closed for repairs/rebranding, the authorities informed.

Recall that the fuel crisis in the Krasnodar region provoked a sharp increase in demand for the installation of gas equipment (GBO). The cost of this service has nearly doubled, and auto services are booking clients months in advance. Along with the rush, prices for propane have also risen.

Some residents of Kuban stated that they consider switching to gas the only way to reduce expenses. Others are convinced that the current crisis is temporary and will not lead to mass retrofitting of vehicles.
